My house was hit by lightning on Tuesday morning, fried the phone lines, melted the breaker panel wires and destroyed my cable modem and ethernet card. All the while I was about 15 feet away

Needless to say I'm still alive :)

I'm not going to take this as a sign that I shouldn't invest in real estate :) So at 2pm today I met with a guy selling his vacant home. It's a 3br semi with a 2br unit in the basement. He was getting $1000/month rent and had someone in there for 9 years, but they've moved out and now he's looking to sell. He's got about $25,000 in equity, but doesn't need any cash out, so he's open to a lease/option.

So I'll let you know what happens.
