I've gathered all the necessary ingreadients to bombard my target area with marketing. Here's my list -

1.) 100 Bandit Signs
2) 200 Flyers
3) Map of Area
4) Stapler
5) Tape gun

Does anyone know whether a regular swingline stapler will do the trick to post up my flyers on poles? I don't think I'll require anything more heavy duty will I?

* I'll be placing my signs and flyers at the entrance and exits of subdivisions, abandoned properties, and at freeway exits. Please let me know if I missed anything. I'll be starting off this Saturday since there's been a delay in the arrival of my signs.

Thanks !

Great game plan, but check your city ordinances and make sure that you can post where you want to post. There are threads in this forum that deal with that.

Would hate to see you get a ticket for littering.

I did not find staplers to work for my signs. I used roofing nails with tabs.

I didn't use the square head ones, I used the regular 1" roofing nails. They work fine.

I went out and bought a framing hammer and a box of bandit sign nails. They're cheaply made, but sufficient. They came with a washer thingey to add support.

After a while, I got tired of lugging the ladder, hammer, handful of nails, and the sign over to the pole. On top of that, three nails was enough to make the sign fold in half from the wind (all the support was in the center), and any more than three would make it hard to read the numbers.

I kept an eye on what everyone else was doing... And I saw one guy that had stapled his up, and because the staples wrapped around the pole, they didn't fold in half.

So... I went and got a Hammer Tacker. It was about $30 at Lowe's.

Now I take the sign and the hammer tacker to the pole, jump up and smack the sign with the hammer tacker to hold it in place. The 1/2 inch staples holds it in place, while I smack another 8 or so into it.

It holds better in the wind now.

I don't consider CAUSS issues, because if someone wants to take it down, it doesn't matter what you use to put it up.

I can't speak for using a standard swingline, but I have no complaints about 1/2 inch staples.

Wow, it's always good to hear so many different ideas and they all achieve the same result. I definitely like the idea of the hammer tacker. That sounds pretty hardcore!

Thanks everyone.

So I drove to Richmond this weekend...

And I'm driving through this Hurricane Disaster neighborhood...

Trees down here, power poles down there. The wind must have been horrible! I go around a bend where the cherry-picker is cutting a tree off of power lines... Around another corner where there are 5 signs that say "Free Wood"...

Drive over a few power lines that fell and are laying in the road...

... and see my bandit sign, still on the telephone pole. Happy as can be.

I can conclusively say that a hammer tacker with 1/2" nails makes for a hurricane-proof bandit sign installation.
